Yoga and Fascia

Hello, great to see you ready to learn about fascia!

Thanks to scientific research, fascia – the connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, organ, and joint, has become a hot topic in medicine, sports science, and movement practices.

I’d like to share some insights about Fascia and Yoga.

In my work as a physiotherapist and yoga teacher, back pain is one of the most common issues I see — and often the reason people start moving and taking care of their bodies again.

What Are Fascia?
Fascia form a continuous network throughout the body. They connect and separate muscles, organs, and joints. When one area is tight or restricted, it can affect the entire system. Healthy, flexible fascia support smooth movement and may help reduce discomfort.

Fascia & Pain Fascia are connective tissues that have many nerve endings. When fascia become tight or stuck, they can cause tension and pain. Injuries can also create scar tissue, which may affect the balance and movement of the whole body.

Fascia Training
Mobility comes from movement — but the quality of movement matters. Moving with precision, intention, and care keeps fascia elastic and functional.

Fascia & Yoga
Yoga promotes balance and harmonizes opposites, such as stability and flexibility. Its postures gently stretch muscles, joints, and fascia, improving mobility and overall health. Long, mindful stretches are especially beneficial for the fascial network.

Tools for Fascia
Self-massage with rollers or balls helps release tight fascia. Slow, exploratory movements ease tension and improve flexibility.
