This inspiration comes from the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in Porto, where Yayoi Kusama’s exhibition featured a captivating black-and-white installation.

There’s a saying: “Opposites attract.” It’s a beautiful reminder that true strength—and deeper balance—emerge when contrasting energies meet, support one another, and learn to move in harmony.
Just like black and white or Yin and Yang, balance is created through the union of opposites.
The foundation of Yin and Yang comes from ancient Chinese philosophy and describes how everything in life is shaped by two complementary energies.
Yin represents qualities like darkness, quiet, and rest, while Yang stands for light, movement, and activity. Instead of working against each other, these energies interact—just like the natural rhythms and cycles we see in nature—to create balance in our lives.

In Yoga Yin represents slow, passive, and introspective poses that promote stillness and deep stretching, focusing on connective tissues and relaxation.
Yang, on the other hand, involves active, dynamic, and energizing movements, emphasizing strength, staying power and muscle engagement.
I truly enjoy integrating both Yin and Yang into Yoga practice.
So let’s bring them together combining both energies, creating a practice that feels grounded and beautifully balance.
I looking forward to welcoming you on the Yoga Mat!
Andrea
