Hello,

Remember, Asana means ‘to sit.’ Yoga poses prepare our bodies for meditation, allowing us to experience love, freedom, peace, and light.

This week, I’d like to focus on meditation with you. In Vinyasa flow practice, there’s a saying: ‘breathe and move like meditation.’There are different ways and techniques to meditate. One of the simplest methods is to sit, focus, and listen without judgment.

With this short tutorial, I hope to motivate you to easily find time to focus and meditate on your own. Meditation helps you cultivate attention and awareness.

Start Meditating “The Monkey Mind”

What does it mean to become quiet? Does it mean sitting still and not talking, or not thinking?

In Yoga, we call it the ‘monkey mind,’ where your thoughts jump from one to another, just like a monkey jumps from branch to branch.

In Meditation the goal is to reach a calm, clear, and stable mind, free from wandering thoughts and judgment.

7 Steps to Start Meditating:

  1. Find a quiet place where you won’t be distracted.
  2. Notice your surroundings and listen to the sounds.
  3. Close your eyes when you’re ready.
  4. Observe your thoughts without judgment.
  5. Focus on something, such as: – Your breath – The point between your eyebrows – An object
  6. If your thoughts wander, gently return to your focus.
  7. Practice for 3 to 5 minutes or longer.

Over time, you’ll find your thoughts becoming more organized and your mind calmer. This awareness can extend to daily activities like cooking, surfing, or walking.

Thank you,

Enjoy your practice!
