What do you think is the biggest motivation for people to exercise regularly?
Health! Of course, it’s important. But fun is actually the biggest motivator to stay active. This means that if you do not find fun or enjoyment in the sport you are doing, your motivation to continue in the long term will be very low.
So, what gives you joy in your yoga practice?
- Are you enjoying stretching and aiming for flexibility?
- Do you feel satisfaction in building strength and feeling your muscles engage?
- Do you enjoy having time out from the daily hustle?
- Are you enjoying breathing deeply?
- Do you find joy in connecting within yourself?
- Do you like your group and the social interactions before and after class?
You see, we can experience joy in multiple ways during our yoga practice.
Experiencing fun in physical activities has positive effects on our bodies. Doing enjoyable activities reduces stress by lowering cortisol levels, which improves heart health and lowers blood pressure. Laughter and joy trigger the release of endorphins, which act as natural painkillers and lift our mood.
Yoga is a practice that leads your focus inward, helping you experience harmony. Meet yourself in the moment with acceptance, allowing fun to come from not taking everything too seriously. It’s great to stay focused and purposeful, but don’t be too hard on yourself. Approach your limits and boundaries with ease and enjoy yourself as you are.
So, let’s come together this week to celebrate our uniqueness by practicing with laughter and ease.
Yogis “Wanna Have Fun!” Enjoy you practice.
Warmly,
Andrea
