This week’s course inspiration comes from the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves in Porto, which is featuring an exhibition by Yayoi Kusama.

There’s a saying: “Opposites attract.” In other words, one can only be strong and act in harmony with their partner. Just like black and white or Yin and Yang, balance is created through the union of opposites.

The foundation of Yin and Yang lies in ancient Chinese dualism, which holds that everything consists of two complementary forces.

Yin symbolizes darkness and passivity, while Yang represents light and activity. These interdependent forces interact to maintain balance, symbolizing life’s cyclical nature.

In yoga practice, Yin represents slow, passive, and introspective poses that promote stillness and deep stretching, focusing on connective tissues and relaxation. Yang, on the other hand, involves active, dynamic, and energizing movements, emphasizing strength, staying power and muscle engagement.

I personally love to integrate these two aspects in yoga.

So lets integrate Yin and Yang for a balanced practice that mixes calmness and energy.

I am looking forward to meet you on the Mat.
