Welcome to the Light, Dear Yogis!
As time passes and we are already in the middle of the year, let us become aware that June brings the longest days of the year, with around 14–15 hours of daylight. Sunrise is around 6 am and sunset around 9 pm.
On June 21, 2026, we celebrate the Summer Solstice and World Yoga Day, when we experience the most daylight and the sun reaches its highest point in the sky.(Yes, also this year, I would like to celebrate this day together with you—more details will follow soon ; )
This makes June a beautiful time to reconnect with Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation). Within this well-known Asana series, it is important not to switch off automatically, but to stay curious and awake.
Awake as you would be when practicing on a rooftop, as I did twelve years ago during a visit to New York. I must be crazy at that time but, this beautiful memory reflects the teaching of Sthira Sukham Asanam, steadiness and ease within the posture, held against the pulse of the city, in a moment of trust and joy.
So dear Yogis, let each movement be felt, each breath be conscious, and allow the practice to stay alive—moment by moment.
I am truly looking forward to welcoming you, with an open heart,
on Tuesday or Thursday at 10 am.
Yoga Caldas da Rainha
Namaste,
Andrea Stern
